There's a lot to see on Iceland's southern coast. Here's my experiences on two must see places.

The southern coast of Iceland has a ton of activities and scenic stops. You can accomplish so much while driving from Hofn to Vik, or vice versa. 

While the Ring Road is an unpredictable drive during the winter, it can also be fun with some stops and detours on the way to Hofn from Akureyri.

Godafoss is an hour drive from Akureyri. While winter makes staying in on vacation appealing, take yourself out for a relaxing day.

Activities can sometimes be tough to find in Akureyri, but dogsledding isn't something you should miss out on.

If you're staying in Akureyri during the winter for a few days, Husavik and Myvatn are less than two hours away.
